Proud additions to Mkhuze’s lion pride

Mkhuze Game Reserve recently welcomed its latest residents - three lion cubs

MKHUZE Game Reserve is celebrating the arrival of its latest addition – three new lion cubs to boost the pride.

Introduced in December 2013, the lions in the Mkhuze section of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park settled in well from the outset and have recently produced a new litter. Celebrations aside, the park authority recently announced the shortening of visiting hours at Mkhuze’s hides owing to increased animal activity.

It appears the reserve’s newest residents have taken to hanging out at the kuMasinga Hide waterhole. The park authority has also announced the imminent erection of security fencing between car parks and walkways.

In other conservation news, extra electric fencing has been erected at the entrance gate of the Western Shores section of the wetland park as a lone elephant took to browsing the trees near the booms.
