Zululand’s super cat claws his way to the top

Jojo sauntered away with the crown at the KZN Top Cat contest held in Durban.

POSING and purring his way to victory last weekend at the KZN Top Cat show was Empangeni’s very own rag doll breed ‘Ameleony*PL Junior the Second of Esperanza Rags’, affectionately known as Jojo.

The blue bi-colour, medium hair rag doll weighing in at 5.5kg at just two-years-old, was crowned Top Cat by the South African Cat Council and the Cat Federation of South Africa.

By invitation only, the event saw more than 100 feline competitors vying for bragging rights, but they had no chance against Zululand’s super cat.

Jojo, originally from Poland, arrived in South Africa at 10-months-old to the welcoming arms of Empangeni breeder Breeze Swartzberg.

South Africa has only five registered and qualified breeders, with Breeze being the only one in the province.

‘Jojo started competing in July. He is very playful and charming and apart from his good looks, his personality surely wooed the judges.’ Breeze said.

And the winner is… Empangeni’s charming Jojo!
