THE gunman believed to have shot a motorist to death in Alton on Monday afternoon, handed himself over to the Richards Bay police.
Sipho Mtshali was charged with murder and appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody pending his legal aid application.
The motorist was parked at a bus stop in Alumina Allee at about 2.30pm when he was gunned down in a hail of bullets and shot in the head, chest and wrist on Monday this week.
He managed to drive away, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole. He died en route to the hospital.
Police could not confirm any motive for the shooting.
