UPDATE: Rhino fights for its life

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife officials and vets work tirelessly to save a wounded rhino in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Park.

THE latest news from Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Park is that, as at midday, one of the 5 rhinos involved in the poaching slaughter was still alive.

It is unknown at this stage whether or not it can be saved.

Musa Mntambo from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife said there were three separate incidents and investigators are piecing together the time each incident occurred.

It is believed the rhinos were found in the Memorial Gate area in the Hluhluwe (northern) side of the park. This is the same area as the previous incident at the end of August.

The latest poaching incident at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park brings KZN’s total poachings this year to 86.
