Off the grid

Changing the way in which you consume energy can massively effect your carbon footprint.

GOING green. We aren’t talking about the bad sushi you ate last night, we’re talking about reducing your carbon footprint which will not only contribute to saving the planet, but also save you a few bucks!

Let’s paint the picture – people across the globe are either driving a vehicle or using electricity (all consume diminishing resources and produce high carbon emissions). We know that this won’t be reduced any time soon, but we can make a difference in our own way by going green at home.

How to go from energy villain to energy hero?

Changing the way in which you consume energy can massively effect your carbon footprint. A great way to do this is through the use of solar power systems supplied by ACDC Express Richards Bay. There are other little things that can be done.

Here is a look at some small changes you can make around your house that will make a big difference:
Living lightly

Eco solar systems is one of the best systems for sustainable living, as you draw power from the sun instead of consuming produced electricity. If you’re not ready to take that leap, you can opt for compact fluorescent globes – a wide variety at wholesale prices can be found at ACDC Express. These globes use less electricity and produce less heat. You can also count on it lasting longer!

Did you know?
If 1 million people replaced one incandescent bulb with a compact flight bulb (CFL), more than 200 000 tonnes of CO2 emissions would be eliminated per year.
Wise-up in the kitchen
Believe it or not, you use less energy with a dishwasher than by washing your dishes in the sink. The energy used to heat the water and the amount of water actually used is far less. However, it doesn’t help if you’re in the habit of washing half a load of dishes at time. Rather wait for a full load.
Snooze electronics
It doesn’t help if your TV power is not switched off at the plug point- it still draws electricity! To save electricity switch of all electronics at the main socket, or unplug them. To make life easier, you can group plugs together using a multi-plug adaptor.
