King Zwelithini issues stern reprimand to local government

The King has lashed out at what he calls 'government opportunism'

‘SHAKA’S Day is not for the government; it is for my nation.

‘And my message to the government is that they must stop bringing their banners in place of banners with King Shaka and his photos.’

These were the words of King Goodwill Zwelithini, who was not happy about the government using King Shaka’s day as their own, because they provided the money.

He also complained about the budget for his palace – where contracts are awarded to cleaning companies that do not do their job – and condemned fighting in the hostels around Durban, pointing his finger straight to the provincial government because they ‘watched instead of stopping this bloodshed’.

King Zwelethini said more police should be brought in and said he would visit the kwaMashu and Glebelands hostels where the fighting is taking place.

Also at the celebration was Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi who said King Shaka was an extraordinary leader, ‘because as we celebrate his day,we are celebrating our own lives’.

KZN Premier, Senzo Mchnu thanked the people of the province which came in buses and trains to celebrate ‘this important day for our father and co-founder of the Zulu Nation, King Shaka ka Senzangakhona’.
