THE seven suspects accused of kidnapping and murdering Mbo Welcome Menyuka and burying his body at Nhlabane beach late last year, will stand trial in February.

The suspects appeared in the Mtubatuba High Court last week for a preliminary hearing and the case was postponed and the trial date set for 15 February at the Mtunzini High Court.

Community members remain concerned about their safety after the suspects were released on bail in December.

According to police, the main accused, Bongani Mbuyazi, might be linked to other murders.

While no murders or disappearances have occurred in the area recently, a boy by the name of Amahle Mbuyazi went missing shortly after the suspects were released and has not yet been found.

Menyuka (25) was reported missing on 2 October last year, his badly beaten body found in a shallow grave at Nhlabane beach in November.

Tuckshop owner Mbuyazi and six others were arrested and charged with Menyuka’s kidnapping and murder.
