Robbers attack Babanango farmer

Couple have fortunate escape on Babanango farm.

AN UNKNOWN number of intruders held up a farming couple in the Babanango area at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The man was hit over the head a few times with a gun before being tied up.

His wife was tied up with a rope and she passed out during the ordeal.

The robbers ransacked the house and made off with weapons, jewellery and other valuable items.

The man managed to loosen the ropes and raised the alarm.

A local reaction unit and neighbouring farmers were alerted and were on the scene within minutes.

Using dogs, the suspects were tracked into a nearby forestry plantation, but the dogs lost the scent when they encountered a pack of stray dogs.

The sniffer dogs were taken from the forest, and were set on a new scent, but they were unable to locate the suspects.

The suspects are still at large.
