Rhino killed, 2 injured in Hluhluwe

The latest poaching incident at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park brings KZN's total poachings this year to 75.

THE Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (HiP) suffered the loss of one White Rhino to poaching on Monday, while another two survived the ordeal.

‘It is suspected the rhinos were darted,’ said Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife spokesperson Musa Mntambo on Tuesday.

The two that survived are now being looked after elsewhere in the game reserve.

According to Mntambo, no weapons or implements were recovered from the scene and all three rhinos, including the two that survived, had been de-horned.

This incident brings KwaZulu-Natal’s total poached rhinos this year to 75.
