Bay bodybuilders bring it on
Six athletes from Richards Bay have out trained, out posed and out performed the competition
SIX Richards Bay bodybuilders outperformed a host of other muscle flexing opponents from around the province at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) regional competition in Durban last weekend.
Up against 130 competitors, the Bay athletes made a strong statement, with every single one finishing in qualifying positions for the SA championships in September.
An extremely proud Bernard Groenewald of East Coast Health Gym in Meerensee where the athletes train, told the Zululand Observer that despite the gym only being in operation for a short while, their strong finishes were the result of hard work by the athletes and a beneficial training environment.
The local athletes finished as follows:
Sarel Breedt – first place, Athletic Physique U/174
Leanne van Heerden – fourth, Ladies Body Fitness
Shayna Atkinson – third, Ladies Fitness Bikini U/163
Cindy Royle – sixth, Ladies Fitness Bikini O/163
Barbara Joubert – third, Ladies Fitness Bikini O/35 years
Karen de Beer – first, Ladies Body Fitness
The athletes are already hard at work training for the national championships and say they will bring it on.
