This special day has two goals, namely to honor dogs, and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse.
It’s an opportunity for people to recognize and appreciate the value and importance of dogs in their lives.
This day is intended to honor dogs for all that they do, giving humans love, companionship, watching out for safety, leading the blind. aidding in search and rescue and seeking out bombs and drugs.
Here are some simple ways to celebrate the day.
• Adopt a dog from the local shelter.
• Complete a safety check at home to make sure it’s safe for your dog and others.
• Donate blankets, food and toys to animal welfare organizations.
• Organize a peaceful demonstration in front of the community pet store that sells puppies.
• Have a party and invite all your friends and their dogs.
• Take photos of your dog and make an album.
• Assist an ill or elderly neighbor by walking their dog.
• Buy your dog a fun new dog toy.
• Give your dog some fun exercise by taking him or her to a doggy play resort.
• Brush your dog to eliminate excess fur.
• Give your dog a massage or holistic spa treatment.
• Teach your dog a new trick.
• Buy your dog a fashionable collar and leash.
