A MAN appeared in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court accused of raping and murdering his female house mate after an evening out drinking on Sunday.
According to the KwaMsane SAPS, the 30-year-old suspect was seen with the 57-year-old victim socialising at about 5.30pm at a homestead at the Mfekayi reserve outside Mtubatuba.
A fight reportedly broke out between the two and the suspect claimed he left the gathering, never to see the deceased again.
‘The following morning, the victim was found dead – her clothes scattered all around the scene,’ said Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.
‘She had scratch marks on her neck and it is suspected she was raped before she was murdered.
‘The suspect was arrested for questioning when he failed to give satisfactory answers.
‘He was charged with murder and rape.’
