Pupils get in on blood donation act

Richards Bay Christian School boosts blood bank stock

RICHARDS Bay Christian School (RBCS) pupils queued up to donate blood when the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) visited the school on Tuesday for their quarterly round.

Students over the age of 16 are encouraged to donate a unit of blood every term and to also motivate parents and peers to follow suit.

In a country riddles with crime, road accidents and high maternal and infant mortality rates, blood transfusions save countless lives.

Some pupils were smiling and relaxed, while others had the typical look of a person starring down the barrel of a needle, but they bravely pressed on.
