Soweto taxi boss gunned down in Empangeni

A 55- year-old taxi owner from Soweto, was shot multiple times

A 55-year-old taxi boss from Soweto has been brutally gunned down in the Empangeni CBD.

According to police, the bullet-riddled body of Dumisani Mthetwa was found at the Engen Garage in Union Street just before 6pm tonight.

He was declared dead on the scene.

Empangeni police spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose declined to comment on whether police were treating the killing as a hit, but confirmed a case of murder had been opened.

It is believed Mthetwa owns a number of taxis in Soweto, however the motive of the killing is unknown.

No firearms were found on his person.
