UPDATE: AmaKhosi trial postponed yet again

After barely five minutes in court, the case was postponed yet again.

THE trial of the two AmaKhosi charged with attempted murder has been postponed yet again.

Inkosi Zenzo Zungu (43) of KwaMadlebe Traditional Council and Inkosi Eric Khoza (60), who were both charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, appeared in Empangeni Regional Court last Tuesday.

However, their appearance was short lived and after barely five minutes the case was postponed until 3 September.

Previously the Eyethu Bay Watch reported that the defence was scheduled to make a representation.

At this stage the exact reason for the postponement is unclear.

Zungu, Khoza and a third man, Nokosinathi Shezi (37) were charged after an incident in 2006, when they reportedly broke a window at a home in Mevamhlope and opened fire.

No one was injured during the incident.

They were released on bail, and granted the return of their firearms in April, despite the State’s request to keep the weapons as evidence.
