Pick n Pay warns of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ scam

The SMS claiming the receiver could win a R8 000 shopping voucher is doing its rounds on WhatsApp.

SUPERMARKET giants Pick n Pay has issued a warning on their Facebook page, after learning of an SMS doing the rounds claiming that the receiver could win R8 000 in shopping vouchers.

The scam seems to have migrated to WhatsApp.

A message is sent including a link to a webpage, that opens up a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ feature.

The user is asked to spin the wheel to stand a chance to win, and once you have ‘won’ it asks you to share the link with 10 of your WhatsApp contacts before clicking ‘Next’ to claim your prize.

Pick n Pay have distanced themselves from the SMS scam.

Users are urged to immediately delete the message if received, and to not open the link at all.
