BREAKING NEWS: Community battles Empangeni sugar cane fire
Quick thinking by a local farmer who organised members of the community to come and help, has averted disaster
MEMBERS of the community and a local farmer have won the battle against a sugar cane fire, after flames threatened to engulf a farm near Empangeni.
A farmer rallied people from nearby to bring the flames under control on UVS uMhlathuze Valley Sugar Farm on Molasses Street, near Bell Equipment just before 6pm this evening.
The blaze was quickly brought under control, averting disaster.
