No fresh leads in St Lucia murder case

Jabu Msezane, murdered in cold blood last year, was one of the most loved and respected St Lucia residents.

ONE year on and the cold-blooded murder of one of St Lucia most loved residents remains unsolved.

The tragic loss of Jabu Msezane, who worked as Bar Manager at the St Lucia Ski Boat Club for 22 years, is still fresh in the minds of those who knew him, his death having left a large void in the small town.

While Mtubatuba detectives have been doing all they can to track down Msezane’s killers, for now the case remains a mystery.

Within 24 hours of the murder, which occurred on 7 July last year during an armed robbery at the club, Msezane’s vehicle and cell phone, which were stolen during the incident, were located near the Umfolozi Sugar Mill in Riverview, Mtubatuba.

Spent casings were located at the scene, but no fingerprint evidence was left by the suspects.

A computer laptop, also stolen during the robbery, was found earlier this year in the estuary near the clubhouse but, owing to the length of time it had been submerged, no fingerprints could be obtained when it was dusted for prints.

The case remains open and anyone with information is urged to contact the detectives at Mtubatuba SAPS on 035 5500017.
