UPDATE: Kidnapped Zululand baby found

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with kidnapping.

A NEWBORN baby who was reportedly abducted by three women, has been found.

The infant was found during an operation conducted by members of the Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

It is believed police found the infant with a 38-year-old woman in her house in Mkhayideni, Richards Bay. She has been arrested and charged with kidnapping.

The baby was taken to hospital for a check-up. He was subsequently returned to his parents in a healthy condition.

The woman is expected to appear in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court on July 3.

Pretty Shabangu (43) and Hlalisile Mbambo, of Ntambanana, were arrested last month in connection with the baby’s kidnapping.
