Financial boost for underprivileged students

uMfolozi TVET College disadvantage students received financial boosts.

THIRTY-two uMfolozi TVET College students from eSikhawini Campus received financial aid from Trans-Africa Projects on Tuesday.

The kind gesture was to empower disadvantaged students who did not get the National Students Financial Aid Scheme support this year.

Recipients were carefully selected by the institution, based on their academic performances and background.

Bursaries will assist with tuition fees for students registered in the National Certificate Vocational and engineering studies.

‘Bursaries will only pay fees for their current levels, however, at the later stage we will try and come up with other arrangements,’ said Trans-Africa Projects Design Technician Never Chauke.

Chauke encouraged recipients to work hard and focus on their goals.

‘Now that we have lessened your financial burden, it is time to improve yourselves without worrying about money.

‘Excel today and tomorrow will sort out itself, because hard word pays off in the end,’ he said.

Overjoyed 21-year-old student Anna Mnguni said the financial boost has given her a glimpses of hope for a bright future.

‘I live with my grandmother and things have been tough, but knowing that my tuition is covered is one less thing to worry about. Now I can focus on my studies and nothings else,’ she said.

Esikhawini Campus Manager Khaya Zulu, Assistant Director Quality Management Babs Weitz, Assistance Finance Director Lungile Nsibande were also part of the handover.
