Evidence piles up against ‘Satanic’ rape accused

More charges have been brought against 'Satanic' rape accused, Sandile Xulu.

THE man accused of being Empangeni’s ‘Satanic’ serial rapist, has been charged with another rape and robbery that occurred in 2013.

According to a source who is familiar with the case, DNA test results linked the accused, Sandile Welcome Xulu (26) to the case which had been heard in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court.

However, it is believed Xulu never appeared in court, despite being arrested.

Xulu and his two suspected accomplices Siyabonga Innocent Mthembu and Thobile Mkhungo appeared in Empangeni Magistrate’s Court today (Monday) for a formal bail application, which is still ongoing.

They face charges relating to three counts of rape, conspiracy to assist another to commit a sexual offence and the possession of suspected stolen property.

The court is currently hearing testimony from the accused.

The KZN MEC for Social Development, together with social workers and women’s rights organisations staged a protest outside the court house, demanding the accused not be granted bail.
