UPDATE: Suspected ‘Satanic’ serial rapist in the dock

Police found the underwear taken from the rape victims in the house.

THE man suspected of luring at least five women into a ‘Satanic’ rape trap will appear in court for the first time today (Monday).

In a well executed swoop, police arrested the 26-year-old rape accused at a house in eNseleni in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Two alleged accomplices, a woman believed to be his girlfriend and another man, were also arrested.

The suspects were found in possession of underwear taken from the victims as ‘trophies’, a homemade knife and further evidence possibly linked to the victims.

It is believed the accomplices worked with the alleged rapist to lure women seeking employment into meeting with him, where after he would attack, rape and rob them.

Between May and March this year, five women from in and around Empangeni reportedly fell victim to the devilish devices of the trio, however the police are urging any other victims to come forward.

The operation came as a result of tireless investigation by Sergeant Zandile Mbambo of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit, and members of Crime Intelligence who received information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

The case will be heard at the Empangeni Magistrate’s court, where the suspects face five charges of rape.
