Plain clothed detectives arrested the suspect and removed him to the Richards Bay Police Station, while onlookers gathered at the scene
A SUSPECT was arrested in the parking area off Lira Link street, Richards Bay CBD on Thursday afternoon, after allegedly attempting to jam the remote locking device of a motor vehicle.
According to onlookers, the man allegedly tried to break into a VW Jetta, using a remote control device to jam the owner’s own remote key.
He was however apprehended by a plain clothed detective and reportedly found in possession of the device.
The area has been the target of several incidents of car break-ins and attempted break-ins.
