THE serial ‘Satanic’ rapist that claimed five known victims in the Empangeni area, has been arrested.
Empangeni SAPS announced this morning the arrest of a man believed to be the ‘Satanic’ rapist, who lured women into his clutches with promises of employment.
A joint operation by the Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit and Crime Intelligence culminated in the arrest of the 26-year-old man in eNseleni along with two suspected accomplices, a man and a woman.
Spokesperson for Empangeni SAPS, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose confirmed the arrests were executed in the early hours of this morning.
Sergeant Zandile Mbambo, the investigating officer from FCS who has pursued the case relentlessly, was on scene.
It is believed the suspects will appear in court on Monday.
The arrest comes on the heels of an announcement by police that the suspect was believed to have relocated, and a report by the Zululand Observer that the rapist had gone to ground.
