UPDATE: Nongoma crash death toll rises
The driver was allegedly over the legal blood alcohol limit at the time of the crash and was arrested at the scene.
A SEVENTH person died following a crash on the R618 between Nongoma and Vryheid on Sunday evening.
Six people died at the scene when the bakkie they and 11 other passengers were travelling in overturned just after 7pm.
Two children were among the dead.
The surviving passengers were all injured and taken to Vryheid Hospital for treatment.
The seventh person died on Monday morning.
According to reports, it is alleged the driver of the bakkie, who sustained only minor injuries, was over the legal blood alcohol limit at the time of the incident.
He was subsequently arrested at the scene by Nongoma police.
