UPDATE: Zaloumis couple on the mend after buffalo attack

iSimangaliso CEO Andrew Zaloumis and his wife Tracy are reportedly recovering well after the buffalo incident on Thursday.

ISIMANGALISO CEO Andrew Zaloumis and his wife Tracy are reportedly well on their way to recovery following the buffalo attack in the Eastern Shores section of iSimangaliso Wetland Park on Thursday.

After spooking a buffalo in the Mission Rocks area of the park, the couple was charged and each sustained a ‘gash’ – Andrew on the right hand side of his body and Tracy on the left.

While the injuries were initially thought to be serious, as reported by KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on Thursday afternoon, yesterday it was confirmed by iSimangaliso Acting CEO, Terri Castis, that the wounds were ‘superficial’.

The couple was discharged from hospital in a stable condition but, at the request of iSimangaliso, spent time at Netcare The Bay Hospital for observation.
