Road closures for Comrades Marathon

Take note of these road closures between Durban and Pietermaritzburg tomorrow.

THIS year, the Comrades Marathon will be run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, ending at the Oval in Alexandra Park.
Several roads will be closed from Saturday in preparation for the event.
More than 22 000 runners will take to the road before dawn on Sunday morning in a bid to bag a medal in this gruelling ultra-marathon.
Here are the roads that will be closed:
 
These road closures are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Dr Pixley Ka Seme Street (West Street ) will be closed between Dorothy Nyembe Street (Gardiner Street) and Samora Machel Street (Aliwal Street) from 17h00 to 7am.

Samora Machel Str. (Aliwal Street) will be closed between Monty Naicker Street (Pine Street ) and Anton Lembede Str. (Smith Street) from 00h00 to 7am.

These will be closed on the day of the race.

Sherwood – 45th Cutting – closed from 4am to 7:30am

Cowies Hill – closed from 4:30am to 8:30am

Pinetown and Fields Hill – closed from 4:45am to 9:15am

Kloof – closed from 5am to 10am

Hillcrest- closed  5:30am to 11am

Botha’s Hill – closed from 5:40am to 11:30am

Drummond – closed from 6am to 12:30pm

Cato Ridge – closed from 7am to 2pm

Camperdown – closed from 7:30am to 2:30pm

Lion Park – closed from 8am to 3:55pm

Ashburton – closed from 9am to 5pm

Polly Shortts – closed from 9am to 5pm

Pietermaritzburg – CB Downes, Washington, Oribi & Jesmond Roads – closed from 9am to 6pm
