SASCO President publicly pronounced that EFF members must be beaten to death as they will never be recognized at the college's, eSikhaleni campus.

EFF Regional Secretary Nkululeko Ngubane says he is deeply disturbed by comments made by uMfolozi TVET SASCO President, Lindokuhle Mbatha.

On 19 May, Mbatha publicly pronounced that EFF members must be beaten to death as they will never be recognized at the college’s, eSikhaleni campus.

Ngubane spoke after visiting the college in support of students currently on strike over their NSFAS outstanding applications, which they claim were approved – but no payments have been made since last year.

He said the local branch fully understand the fear that comes with seeing the growth of the EFF in institutions of higher learning.

‘We have managed to launch branches at the University of Zululand, eShowe’s uMfolozi TVET campus, and now eSikhaleni campus has come on board.’

He said as the EFF they disapprove of NSFAS, as they believe it’s just another government ploy to burden black students with debt, through what they call ‘shark loans’.

‘Instead we motivate for free quality education for all.’

Ngubane continued, ‘We are calling on uMfolozi TVET management to suspend Mbatha for his utterances.

‘We would like to set the record straight, that we are not a revolutionary movement, hence we are not apologetic about our work.

‘We don’t need anyone’s permission to work within our country, but will continue mobilising aggressively in all institutions of higher learning.

‘We can’t be shaken by cowards who fear the future of the unknown,’ Ngubane ended.
