A wonderful gesture from grieving gran.

Her 13-month-old granddaughter Zanmarie died in a swimming pool accident last December.

HER heart broke when her 13-month-old granddaughter Zanmarie died in a swimming pool accident last December.

But Richards Bay senior citizen Kiewiet Heath channelled her grief into benevolence, thinking of others whose lives are also filled with hardships.

Using the wool she had bought to knit clothes for her little one, Kiewiet created two exquisite blankets ‘for another person’s needy child’.

A regular contributor to the Zululand Observer’s DICE (Do I Care Enough?) charity, Kiewiet completed the blankets, appropriately, on Mother’s Day.

‘I want them to carry my love and support to some mother who is hurting because her child is cold.

‘We have blessed these blankets and prayed that God will use them to show someone there are strangers who care.

‘I have faith that what was meant for one much-loved little girl will go to another who needs the warmth of human kindness.’
