RESIDENTS of Fairview in Empangeni took up arms last night to defend their homes, when opportunistic burglars attempted to strike during load shedding.
According to reports, shots were fired at Pioneerhof complex at approximately 8pm. It is believed residents let off warning shots to deter a group of men who were allegedly breaking into the complex.
Details of the incident are sketchy, however several suspects were apprehended by the local neighbourhood watch and police.
It is believed the suspects were first spotted in Richard Gordon Drive.
