WELL-KNOWN head of casualty at Life Empangeni Garden Clinic, Dr Benjamin Kayode Afolyan (53) died on Saturday morning while on duty.
The passionate and friendly face that often consoled the distressed patients in casualty, who was on call during the weekend, took a break in the doctors’ rooms and was later found dead.
According to the hospital’s Public Relations Officer Zibuyile Mthinyane, autopsy results are pending.
‘Dr Afolyan was highly respected and his passing is a great loss to the hospital and our patients,’ Mthinyane said.
‘We prefer to refrain from comment until further notice as we are still awaiting test results. His passing, however, was of natural causes,’ Mthinyane said.
