Phaksy heading off to Spain

Local singer makes his way to Spain.

LOCAL prodigy Phaksy Mngomezulu is crossing borders in the music industry as he makes his way to Spain.

The young singer was recently offered the opportunity to tour Spain with his band, Lucy and Phillips, after being approached by a popular Spanish band while they were on holiday in Johannesburg.

The four-member South African pop/rock band will be kept busy as they perform six shows a week.

Starting from a young age, the former Empangeni High School pupil always wanted to sing, however focused more on sport and academic work during his school career.

‘I never even made the school choir,’ said Phaksy.

After leaving EHS, he attended Richtek and Varsity College where he studied IT networking. He quickly brought his love for music to the forefront when he auditioned for Idols in 2011 and made it to the top 10.

Taking his talent to the big city, Phaksy moved to Johannesburg and signed with Universal Music for a few months, however no records were released.

He then made the bold decision to take his talent to the stage and began taking part in shows at the Barnyard Theatre. It was this move that resulted in the birth of Lucy and Phillips.
