Two men arrested for jungle justice in Richards Bay.

TWO suspects have been taken into police custody after the fatal stabbing of an alleged rapist in Mzingazi.

Sphamandla Mathenjwa (20) and Gugulethu Mbuyazi (31) were arrested for reportedly assaulting Lucky Mhlongo, who was accused of raping a teenage girl on Sunday.

The alleged rape took place at around 5pm, when the accused was lured to a nearby forest.

Outraged community members are also believed to have assaulted the suspect after hearing about the incident.

On arrival, police found the accused with stab wounds all over his body, and he was immediately transported to Ngwelezana Hospital.

He passed away later that day, due to the seriousness of his injuries.

A case of murder was opened at the Richards Bay police station, and the suspects were expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Richards Bay SAPS have appealed to residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
