Femnet raises money for Zululand charities

Local women enjoy tea for a cause at the first annual Femnet garden tea.

IN an attempt to raise money for upcoming projects, local non-profit organisation Femnet hosted a successful garden tea at Dolfyntjie Crèche over the weekend.

The day was well supported and the first of many to come for the organisation.

About Femnet

Femnet is a non-profit organisation which supports various projects in the area.

Although there are currently only 11 members, they do a number of activities such as baking pancakes, catering and hosting events such as the garden tea to raise funds for charity projects.

The charity projects include Huis Louis Hildebrandt – an orphanage where Femnet is responsible for one of the houses and supports them with clothing, linen, and food.

Dolfyntjie Crèche is also one of Femnet’s projects.

‘We buy wool and supply the NPA hospital with baby clothes where needed,’ said Annetjie Stoltz.

‘Once a year we do a donation of food to the SPCA, toiletry bags and beanies for the Sea Feather organisation and abused children and hand out food parcels for those in need.’

The monthly meeting takes place every third Saturday of the month at Dolfyntjie Crèche at 1.30pm.
