eShowe farmer attacked and tortured

Geoff Hanbury-King (46) was assaulted and robbed of his firearms and motor vehicle by three men.

A FARMER from the Vuma area outside eShowe was attacked on his farm yesterday at about 6am.

Geoff Hanbury-King (46) was assaulted and robbed of his firearms and motor vehicle by three men.

Hanbury-King was confronted by the armed men as he stopped outside his house on the farm.

They took him and his gardener into the house. They were tied up together with the domestic servant.

The men then started assaulting Hanbury-King by kicking him and also suffocated him with a plastic bag while asking for money.

They demanded the safe keys and removed two rifles.

The men also used an iron to burn Hanbury-King in several places on his body. The men searched the house, but could not find any money and then fled with Hanbury-King’s vehicle.

Hanbury-King and his staff managed to free themselves and reported the matter to the police.

His vehicle was later recovered in the Vuma area.

No arrests have been made and the eShowe SAPS are asking anyone with information to contact them on 035 4734215 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
