Celebrating Easter with Passion

Hundreds of inter-denominational participants assembled for the passion march.

EMPANGENI came alive with a colourful parade and songs of praise on Friday when people took to the streets for an Easter Passion march in commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Hundreds of inter-denominational participants assembled for the event. The re-enactment of how Jesus Christ was led by the Roman soldiers through Via Dolorosa was the highlight of the march.

A host of floats and brightly dressed locals carrying banners filled the streets as bystanders observed the procession before joining in.

The march concluded at the Sanlam Centre where fellowship and a meal were shared.

‘It is wonderful to see so many gathering to take part in this year’s Passion March,’ said Pastor Kevin Nadooi of the Dayspring Discipling Ministries.

‘This has been one of our best, and it will continue each year. I envisage that it will draw crowds from all surrounding communities who will converge in Empangeni to celebrate this most important day.’
