SANELE Mthabela is a young man on a mission – and for the next two years he will be preaching the Word of God to the people of Australia.

The 22-year-old Zululander said while studying mechanical engineering at Mangosuthu University of Technology in 2011, he found a calling to serve God.

‘I then decided to put my studies on hold, commit my life to the Lord, and help spread His gospel.’

Sanele will be leaving for Australia in May, and for the next two years will be based in Brisbane where he will do missionary work for the Church of Jesus Christ.

As a missionary, he will be working for free, spending between 60 and 70 hours a week teaching others about the gospel.

To prepare himself for the life in Australia, he has done missionary work with local missionaries ‘to gain experience on what to expect when I get to Brisbane’.

‘I feel very privileged to get this opportunity to help change the lives of others and am looking forward to meet the people of Australia and fellow South Africans over there,’ Sanele said.

After his Australian sojourn, he plans to return home to finish his studies.
