Top award for ZO’s community work

ZO bags string of accolades at annual Caxton Excellence Awards.

THE Zululand Observer’s (ZO) community outreach projects made national headlines when Regina Anthony, the ZO’s Managing Director and founder of the newspaper’s charity arm, Do I Care Enough? (DICE), was honoured with a special award at the annual Caxton publishing group’s Excellence Awards in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The award was made in recognition of DICE’s contribution to the region’s underprivileged communities.

DICE has become synonymous throughout Zululand for its care of the elderly, infants and children and special projects such as the Winter Warmth campaign.

Initiated by Anthony 45 years ago, the organisation has over the years assisted thousands of the less fortunate members in the community.

Registered as a Section 21 company, it is going ahead full strength and expanding even further.

‘DICE widened my horizon and taught me the true meaning of ubuntu,’ Anthony told the hundreds of guests at the glittering event, which had as its theme ‘Amazingly African’.

‘We are sincerely grateful for this award, which we share with all the Zululand corporates, businesses, municipalities and people whose generous support makes DICE’s work possible.’
