Man arrested for goat theft

A Nongoma man was arrested with 12 goats and no livestock removal certificate.

A MAN unable to produce a livestock removal certificate after he was found with 12 goats in his yard, was arrested by the Nongoma police.

The SAPS received information about stolen goats in the Isidinsi area and found 12 goats in the yard of the accused.

The goats were taken to Vryheid where they are being kept as evidence.

The man was charged for possession of suspected stolen livestock and was due to appear in the Nongoma Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The SAPS KZN Commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni, thanked members of the community who assisted the police in this matter.

‘This is the kind of partnership we always seek from our communities.

‘We know that the theft of livestock has led to many conflicts in our community and we therefore treat such cases with the urgency it deserves,’ she said.
