Double murder on eve of wedding

Two men were shot, execution style in Dondotha, near Umfolozi.

TWO men were murdered, execution-style, on Wednesday night in Dondotha as they were celebrating the upcoming wedding of a family member.

According to a witness, the Langa family were preparing for their daughter’s wedding at their homestead when four men wearing balaclavas entered the home.

‘The masked men went into one of the houses where the women had congregated, and demanded to ‘see’ the head of the household.’ explained the distraught family member.

Unable to locate the head of the household, three of the men stole cell phones and money before leaving the house, while one remained behind with the women.

‘The three proceeded to search the other houses on the homestead in an attempt to find their targets.

‘Inside one of the other houses, they found a group of men sitting there and demanded that three of them should go outside with them.’

‘Once outside the household, one of the captives ran away, while the two remaining men were shot. The suspects then fled.’

According to police spokesperson Captain Mdlalose, both men died at the scene and no arrests have been made.

A murder docket has been opened and an appeal has gone out to anybody with any information to contact the Empangeni SAPS or Captain Mdlalose on 035 9015826.
