Police link 3 trolley pushers to murder, rape cases

Raids reap more major arrests.

POLICE have again pinned down some of the region’s most wanted suspects in its ongoing raid operations that have so far seen 117 ‘trolley pushers’ apprehended in the past three weeks.

Of the 22 individuals arrested on 5 February, two have been arrested for murders, both of which took place in 2012 (in Richards Bay and Mtunzini), and one is in custody for a rape and house robbery case reported five years ago in eNseleni.

Rape and robbery accused Namanquoba Victor Mdletshe’s case has been moved to the Mtunzini High Court where he will make his next appearance tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Richards Bay SAPS said they are still investigating further possible cases linked to the two murder suspects.

In the latest joint operation between the SAPS Crime Prevention, Detective and Fingerprint units, Immigration, Local Criminal Record Centre and CRG Security, 41 men were arrested.

On Thursday police raided greenbelts in the CBD and around Richards Bay’s Taxi City where they took in 35 loiterers, two men in possession of drugs, one person dealing in liquor illegally and three ‘undocumented’ men, suspected of being illegal immigrants.

The SAPS will gather evidence to establish if they are connected to other crimes reported in the area.
