Ward committee ready to roll

Ward 1 committee reflects on success.

AS the City of uMhlathuze Ward 1 committee starts to serve in the new year, they look back with pride on some of the achievements they contributed to in 2014.

Ward 1 Councillor, Frik Bosman reported on the following agenda items dealt with and given input during the year:

•Opening of new Secondary School in temporary buildings in August for Mzingazi Village.

•Painting of pedestrian crossings on Dune Road in Mzingazi Village.

•Pothole repairs Mzingazi Village.

•Repainting of road markings Dune Road, Angler’s Rod and John Ross Parkway.

•Listed residents without electricity in Mzingazi Village connected. Phase 1 completed in December.

•Grass cutting tender for Mzingazi Village awarded.

•Water borne sewage system for Mzingazi Village phase 2 tenders advertised.

•Proposed sub division of erf 15373 approved.

•Food parcels and household goods handed out to destitute residents on a monthly basis by OSSWTT.

•DoH started a monthly mobile clinic at the Mzingazi Community Hall.

•Positive response from SAPO for street delivery of mail in Mzingazi Village.

•Additional skips provided for Mzingazi Village.

•Boundary change between Ward 1 uMhlathuze and Ward 6 Mfolozi municipalities gazetted for 2016.

•Mzingazi Village recycling centre announced.

•Illegal settlement in Mzingazi Village brought to the attention of municipal officials.
