Amangwe crèche calls for support

NGO crèche requires sponsorship for the new year.

READY to cater to children in need, Amangwe Village Crèche welcomed 31 new pupils when schools reopened last week.

Although many little ones were eager to see their old friends, for others it was the first time away from mom and the familiar environment oh home, but the tears quickly disappeared when new friendships were formed.

Registered with the Department of Social Development, Amangwe Village Crèche caters for 40 children and currently has space for nine more children.

Providing children with two balanced meals per day, a snack and a programme suited for the holistic development of a child, the non-profit organisation often accommodates children from poverty-stricken backgrounds and for most, the crèche the only source of regular meals.

‘Amangwe wants to provide these children with quality day care during the school terms and ensure that their basic needs are being met,’ said Amangwe Village Manager Erna Steynberg.

‘We depend on the goodwill of the community to sponsor a child this year. We are very grateful to DICE, Northern Crane Hire, Indlela Yempilo Consulting and some individuals who sponsored children last year,’

‘The sponsorship of R250 per month will go towards meals and stationery for the child, maintenance of the buildings and toys and the replacement of toys and educational equipment,’ said Steynberg.
