Two men murdered in eSikhaleni

Murders raise crime concerns in eSikhaleni.

ESIKHALENI residents are concerned about the level of crime in their township following the discovery of two more murdered victims.

eSikhaleni police spokesperson, Lieutenant Mkhumane, said the first body was found at Island, J1 Section at around 6am on Friday.

He suffered three stab wounds to the chest and two on his thigh.

The victim was identified as Mlondi Minenhle Mkhwanazi (21). According to Mkhumane his family is aware of his death, but claim nobody witnessed the incident.

‘It is believed the victim was murdered at around 11:30pm on Thursday when he was about to enter his home.’

In the second incident, an unknown man in his mid to late twenties was found murdered near eSikhaleni FET College.

‘The victim sustained burn wounds and we suspect a panga was also used to hack him to death.

‘In this case we suspect the victim must have been killed by a mob, since personal items such as a cell phone and wallet was found at the scene, and the discovery of what looked like stolen goods which littered the place,’ Mkhumane said.

Murder dockets have been opened.

• Meanwhile, Andrew Cornew reports that the body of an unidentified woman was found at a homestead in the eSikhaleni area on Tuesday.

According to Empangeni police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, Mtunzini police received information that a female had been strangled to death.
