Mbazwana school under investigation

Invigilators and pupils will be given the chance to defend themselves.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has confirmed that Indundubala Secondary School in Mbazwana, near Sodwana Bay, is one of the schools currently being investigated in the matric cheating scandal.

‘All invigilators and chief invigilators are currently being interviewed and next week the pupils will be interviewed,’ said department spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi on Tuesday.

‘Once all parties have been interviewed, testimonies will be compared and it will then be decided whether or not the school was involved.

Both invigilators and pupils will then be given the chance to defend themselves.

While investigations are still in the early stages, the department has settled on a punishment for those involved.

Invigilators, who could be any teacher at the school or even the principal, could be suspended or dismissed, while guilty pupils would have their results scrapped.

Furthermore, the pupils would be barred from writing any form of examination for up to three years.
