Security guard gunned down in Arboretum

Police investigate three security guard shootings.

A SECURITY guard was shot and killed outside Loerie Park complex in Arboretum this morning.

The motive of the killing is unknown and no arrests have been made.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the emergency call at about 03.30am, however, the 35-year-old man died at the scene.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, a security guard was shot several times at an Alton scrapyard.

The victim was robbed of his firearm by four suspects.

‘Paramedics found that the man had sustained several gunshot wounds. After he was treated at the scene, they transported him to a local hospital,’ said Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha.

This is the third security guard to be shot in the past month.

In December, a guard was gunned down while on duty in the Nsese area.

Police are investigating a possible link between the three shootings.
