First matric class flies through exam

Birdsview Academy achieves 100% pass rate.

THE first Birdsview Academy matric class of 2014 completed the National Senior Certificate examination and achieved a 100% pass rate.

Twenty-four pupils wrote the exam, with Renaldo Tirumol emerging as the highest achiever and bagging an impressive five distinctions.

‘We are extremely proud of the school and this achievement,’ Management Council member VC Pillay said.

The school was established in 2010 by a team of local educators and currently has a class of each grade.

Another school that did exceptionally well was Ikhandlela Secondary School.

The first matric class of 2014 completed the National Senior Certificate examinations and achieved a 86.5% pass rate.

Out of the 207 matric pupils who wrote the exam, 179 passed, with Percy Vilane setting the benchmark as the highest achiever by pocketing seven distinctions.

‘We are very grateful for this performance delivered by the pupils,’ said the HOD of the Commerce Department, Lucky Luthuli.

‘I am looking forward to future classes maintaining these results.’

The school was established in 1998 and initially only accommodated pupils for Grades 7, 8 and 9.
