Insurance fraud matter postponed

Fraud accused, Thrishane Govender appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court.

THE trial of Richards Bay resident Thrishane Govender, accused of insurance fraud and defeating the ends of justice, resumed in the Regional Court at the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where the matter was postponed to 6 February for submissions of heads of arguments.

Govender was charged in December with two counts of defeating the ends of justice after opening a false case of hijacking at the Richards Bay police on 29 November last year, and fraud for submitting a false insurance claim.

He was released on bail of R50 000.

The 23-year-old reported he was hijacked at gunpoint and robbed of his cash, cell phone and luxury vehicle in Brackenham.
