No dam levels increases

The state of the dams as recorded on Monday, 20 October show that the Goedertrouw Dam is 0.5% lower than the previous week.

THE rains which have fallen over large parts of Zululand during the last few weeks have had little effect on the levels of the major storage dams in the region.

The state of the dams as recorded on Monday, 20 October show that the Goedertrouw Dam outside eShowe is 0.5% lower than the previous week at 62 percent.

This is a worrying 30% lower compared to the same time last year.

The Hluhluwe and Klipfontein dams are 0.3% and 0.5% lower than last week.

The Hluhluwe Dam is also down on last year’s figure, which was 78%, while the Klipfontein Dam is 15% less.

Zululand’s largest dam, the Pongolapoort, is the only dam which is up on last year’s level at this time of the year with a level of 71.3% compared to 68.3percent.

This is, however, still lower than last week’s level of 71.5 percent.
