Woman dies in tractor accident

THE City of uMhlathuze has launched an internal investigation into the death of a female employee who was run over by a tractor in Richards Bay.

According to the police, Slindile Makhaye (34) from eSikhaleni suffered major injuries in the incident on municipal grounds in Alton and was rushed to Netcare The Bay Hospital. She died shortly after arrival.

A case of culpable homicide was opened.

Municipal Manager Dr Nhlanhla Sibeko said the municipality would assist the family with funeral arrangements.

The municipality will remember Makhaya during a memorial service today (Thursday).
